Siavonga district has been rated amongst the districts in Southern Province
that have recorded the highest prevention of HIV new infections.
Provincial Aids Coordinating Advisor (PACA) Ms Rosemary Masaku said this was according to statistics from the data that shows that Siavonga had a target of testing nine thousand people, but the district managed to test ten thousand people which is as a result of the support it is receiving from the stakeholders in the district.
Ms Masaku said this during an HIV Coordination Tool Kit orientation meeting organized by the National Aids Council (NAC) with support from the Provincial Local Government Office in Siavonga at Lakeview Lodge.
The PACA added that statistics shows the district has been on the right path when it comes to activities such as sensitizations on HIV prevention and testing.
The meeting was aimed at improving the operational environment within the local authorities for purposes of achieving mainstreaming outcomes for HIV, Gender and Human Rights at the local level and was attended by Council Deputy Secretary Patrick Tembo, Acting DHD Dr Kelly Puta, Council Head of departments and Devolved head of departments officers.
