In an effort to prevent further the spread of the Cholera outbreak to the tourist town, Siavonga Town Council has with immediate effect suspended the Monday Market activities at the Harbour due to the escalating cases of Cholera outbreak in the country.
Council Chairperson Given Kwapu says the move is meant to curb the spread of cholera into the district.
According to the Mr Kwapu the market will remain closed until further notice.
Meanwhile, following the public outcry to the local authority to consider reopening of business activities at the Monday market and come up with health prevent measures, Council Public Relations Officer Gwendolyn Mwanza Mchenga says business operations at the market will remain closed until cholera cases reduces.
Ms Mchenga has called on the general public to exercise patience as cholera cases are still on the rise.
