Simamba Ward Councillor Ms. Fatima Sicheele has been re-elected as the Siavonga Council deputy Council Chairperson.
Ms. Sicheele of the United Party for National Development-UPND polled 11 votes, beating her two rivals Ostern Hamyongwa of Sinadambwe Ward and Special Mulaziki of Munyama ward who polled 3 and 1 votes respectively.
The Simamba Ward Civic leader was elected during the 11th Ordinary Council meeting held in the Rainer Schmidt Conference Hall at Lakeview Lodge in Siavonga this morning.
Ms Sicheele was declared duly elected Deputy Council Chairperson by Returning Officer Coster Mutandi who is the Siavonga Council Secretary.
A total of 15 votes were cast with no rejected ballot.
Meanwhile, during the same meeting elections on the reconstitution of members of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Committee were also elected through a secret ballot, Two Councilors Phinias Chazangwe and Leonard Simwiinde were elected after poling 8 and 14 votes respectively.
Further Councilor Royen Mwiinga of Lusangazi Ward is a new member of the Committee following his nomination by the Member of Parliament Daruis Mulunda.
Another election which was held was the reconstitution of standing committees of the Council and the majority members voted that the standing committees must be maintained.
