A significant achievement was marked in various wards of Siavonga Constituency as government officially handed over eleven (11) projects under the 2023 CDF allocation.
The projects which were handed over includes five staff houses in Kariba, Lusangazi, Mulimya, Manchavwa Lakeshore and Manchavwa Inland Wards at a cost ranging between over K500,000 to over K 600,000 and two 1×3 Classroom blocks in Nanyanga and a 1×3 Classroom block in Mulimya wards at between over K750,000 and over K 850,000.
The other projects were two water reticulation systems in Manchavwa Lakeshore and Nanyanga Wards at a cost of over K329,000 and over K 578,000 respectively, a 36 stands Market Shelter in Sinadambwe Ward at a cost of over K538,000 and an Ablution block in Manchavwa Lakeshore costing over K 389,000.
Siavonga Member of Parliament Darius Mulunda accompanied by the Council Chairperson Given Kwapu, DC Jeoffry Jakopo, Council Secretary Coster Mutandi and CDF Committee Chairperson Bornwell Siakalima among others had the honor of officiating at the colorful handover ceremony.
In his speech Hon. Mulunda emphasized the commitment of the New Dawn government towards fulfilling the promises made during the campaign period, particularly in terms of infrastructure development.
He assured the communities that government was committed in funding more projects such as water reticulation systems, staff houses, classroom blocks, desks among other projects aimed at improving their living conditions in all the 12 wards of his constituency.
Hon. Mulunda advised the DC not to entertain teachers or health workers in rural areas seeking transfers to move to the urban areas because the town has been brought closer to rural areas as seen from the massive infrastructure development.
The Council Chairperson Hon Kwapu appealed to residents to safeguard and protect the government infrastructure against any form
vandalism.
He said his government was equal to task in making sure that such development reaches every part of the country.
The DC Mr Jakopo appealed to the residents to take care of the Teachers and Health workers who are offering a service to their communities if they want to see development in the area.
CDF Chairperson Mr Siakalima thanked government for its efforts in making sure Siavonga Receives its share in terms of the CDF allocation as this has resulted in massive development in Siavonga.
