Siavonga, Zambia โ 24th November, 2025 – Today , Siavonga district Member of Parliament Hon. Darius Mulunda successfully handed over several key infrastructure projects and empowerment initiatives funded under the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
The handover ceremonies held at the ZESCO Grounds, Katulumba primary school , Chalokwa health post brought together community members, traditional leaders, district officials and cooperating partners in a warm and united atmosphere.
The event was graced by Hon. Darius Mulunda, who served as Guest of Honour. In his remarks, he commended the community and the Council for working together to ensure that Government resources translate into real progress on the ground.
Also present was the District Commissioner, Mr. Geoffrey Jakopo, who highlighted Governmentโs ongoing support for decentralisation and the need for strengthened local participation in development.
Council Chairperson Mr. Given Kwapu, Council Secretary Mr. Kennedy Shombo and CDF Chairperson Mr. Siyakalima each took turns to speak, noting the hard work that went into completing the projects and the importance of maintaining them for long term benefit. Their remarks reflected a shared sense of pride and commitment toward advancing the districtโs development agenda.
Adding a community voice to the ceremony, one of the CDF loan beneficiaries delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing how the empowerment programme is opening doors for families to create stable and dignified livelihoods.
The projects officially handed over today include:
– A 1 x 3 Classroom Block at Katulumba, aimed at easing classroom congestion and improving the learning environment
– A fully completed Health Clinic at Chalokwa, which brings essential healthcare services closer to the community
– Forty-five (45) beneficiaries supported under the 2025 CDF Loan Empowerment Program.
– Eleven (11) additional beneficiaries empowered through recovered CDF loans.
Siavonga Town Council extends its sincere appreciation to all residents, local leaders and partners who continue to support the effective implementation of the CDF. The Council remains committed to fostering transparency, strengthening service delivery and ensuring that development reaches every corner of the district.
