Siavonga Town Council was among the local authorities that participated in the Second Phase Orientation Meeting on the Revised Cash for Work (R-CFW) Programme convened by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. The orientation was held at the Chalimbana Local Government Training Institute (CLGTI) in Chongwe District from 29th to 30th January 2026.
The meeting provided detailed guidance on the implementation of Phase Two of the R-CFW Programme, which will be implemented over a six-month period and is aimed at providing temporary employment opportunities to vulnerable Zambians. Participants were briefed on programme objectives, eligibility criteria, and implementation modalities to ensure effective delivery at district and community levels.
During the orientation, the Ministry disclosed that approximately K23,905,655 will be released monthly to Southern Province, with an estimated 36,509 individuals expected to benefit under the programme.
Targeted beneficiaries include Zambians aged 18 to 59 years who possess valid National Registration Cards (NRCs), are not in formal employment, and are resident in their respective districts and constituencies. The programme will also deliberately prioritize the inclusion of women and persons with disabilities who are willing to work, in line with Governmentβs commitment to inclusivity and equity.
The orientation further highlighted the critical role of local authorities in coordinating programme implementation, ensuring transparency and accountability and engaging communities effectively.
The meeting concluded with remarks by the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Gift Sialubalo, who reaffirmed Governmentβs resolve to improve livelihoods, support vulnerable households and promote inclusive local development through the Revised Cash for Work Programme.
