Siavonga Town Council has 62 functions that are mandated under the Local Government Act.

According to Article 152(1) of the constitution of the Republic of Zambia, a local authority has the following mandate:

1. To administer the district
2. Oversee programmes and projects in the district
3. Make By-Laws and perform other prescribed functions
