Objectives

  • To provide sustainable health care interventions to the people of Siavonga district so that they can contribute meaningfully to the development of the district.
  • To train and retain adequate and appropriate staff at all levels.
  • To reduce morbidity and mortality due to malaria in the general Siavonga population.
  • To halt new infections and begin to reverse the spread of HIV/TB/STI’s in Siavonga through effective interventions.
  • To reduce the maternal mortality ratio by three-quarters and mortality rate among children under the age of five years by two-thirds.
  • To contribute to the reduction in morbidity and mortality among the general population in Siavonga through improved provision of nutrition services.
  • To reduce the incidence of water-borne diseases.
  • To provide equity of access for all Siavonga residents to good quality efficacious and safe essential drugs and medical supplies.
  • To provide appropriate, efficient, cost-effective and affordable laboratory support services at health center and hospital levels in the district.
  • To provide sustainable infrastructure, conducive for the delivery of quality health services at all levels of the health care system.
  • To significantly improve public health surveillance and control of epidemics.
  • To ensure that all health care services are provided in a cost effective and efficient manner in the district.
  • Hence, Siavonga DHO’s mandate lies in ensuring that all the elements of health care are effectively implemented at all levels of care (health centers and hospitals). It is the responsibility of the Siavonga DHO to distribute the financial and material resources it receives from MOH equitably to all its facilities. All the health centers in the district operate on a yearly action plan and budget.
