Siavonga District is located in the Southern Province of Zambia and precisely stretches between latitudes 15.50° to 17.35° South and longitude 28.1° to 29.0° east. The District covers an area of about 3,413Km2. It is bordered by the Zambezi River in the North and East, Gwembe and Chikankata District in the West and Northwest, Chirundu District in the North and Lake Kariba in the South. In addition, the district shares an international boundary with Zimbabwe across Lake Kariba and along the Lower Zambezi River. Siavonga District has ten (12) wards namely; Kariba, Simamba, Nanyanga, Namuzunga, Nabutezi, Manchamva Inland, Manchamvwa Lakeshore, Munyama, Mutuba, Mulimya, Lusangazi, and Sinadambwe. The District has two (2) Chiefdoms under Chief Simamba and Chief Sinadambwe respectively.
The population of Siavonga is projected to grow from 52,458 people (26327 Males; 24496 Females) to 76,744 people by 2030. This represents an average annual population growth rate of 4.0%, according to the Zambia Statistics Agency (ZSA) 2011 to 2035 Population Projections. Siavonga District has a Youthful population of 18,987 (36%) of the total population of which 9,570 (50.4%) are male and 8,780 are female (49.6).
